Use Olive Oil as a remedy for Hair Loss

There are people who believe that the natural properties in Olive Oil can help those suffering from hair loss.

Olive oil is mostly a kind of fat. Fat is a chemical composition, called an ester, of the alcohol glycerol and fatty acids. A fatty acid has a molecules consisting of a long hydrocarbon chain and a carboxylic group. The most abundant fatty acid in olive oil is oleic acid which is a mono-unsaturated acid, meaning that the hydrocarbon chain has one double bond. 76 % of the fatty acids in olive oil is oleic acid. Oleic acid has 18 carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon chain, and the double bond between the 9th and 10th carbon atoms in the hydrogen chaine, counted from the non-carboxylic end in the molecule. It is therefore called an omega-9 monounsaturated fatty acid. 8 % of the fatty acids in olive oil is linoleic acid, which is a poly-unsaturated acid, meaning that there are more than one double bond in the hydrocarbon chain. Linoleic acid has two double bonds. Linoleic acid has 18 carbon atoms in the hydrocarbone chain, a double bond between the 3th and 4th carbon atoms in the hydrocarbone chain, and a double bond between the 6th and 7th atom, counted from the non-carboxylic end in the molecule. It is therefore called an omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid. 15 % of the fatty acid content of olive oil is stearic acid, which is a saturated fatty acid with 16 carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon chain. A saturated fatty acid has no double bonds. Olive oil also contains some other fat-like substances. One of these is squalane. This is a saturated hydrocarbon with 30 carbon atoms. Squalane is good for the skin health and is often used in cosmetics and skin care products.

So how does that help fight hair loss?

Olive oil seems to have anti-inflammatory properties. People suffering from inflammatory ailments, for example rheumatism, will generally gain from including oilve oil in their diet. However, olive oil should be combined with fish oil or fat fish to optimize the anti-inflammatory effct. Olive oil contains omega-9-poly-unsaturated acids, while fish oil contains- omega-3-poly-unsaturated acids. Both of these seem to reduce inflammation.

If you read previous posts, you will find out that scalp inflammation is a contributor to hair loss.

Make sure to choose extra virgin olive oil. Massage the oil onto the scalp and leave on for about an hour, unless you plan on making a salad on your head. Do this on a regular basis.

One individual applied olive oil along with a combination of garlic and onion juice. He noticed results within a few weeks.

As always if you have used this remedy or know someone who has, please post your comments.

Azelaic acid for Hair Loss

I've come across another possible remedy for hair loss. Its' called Azelaic acid. Azelaic acid is a simple molecule that is found in some whole grains and in trace amounts in human bodies. Although an acid, it is an extremely weak acid, weaker than vinegar.

Currently Azelaic acidis used in medicine as in Azelex, which is a cream base containing Azelaic acid as 20% of its weight. Azelex is used in the treatment of acne. It's possible that Azelaic acid can help to stimulant hair growth. A report conducted by Stamatiadis in 1988 suggested that azelaic acid (and combinations of it and zinc ion and vitamin B6) was a strong type I 5-alpha reductase (5-AR) inhibitor. The enzyme 5-AR (both types I and II) convert testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. DHT is known to contribute to male prostate enlargement (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH) and to damage hair follicles

Although there aren't sufficient clinical studies studies to back up Azelaic acid as a hair growth treatment, people are purchasing Skinoren azelaic acid cream which contains about 20% Azelaic acid from New Zealand. A Dr.Razack recommends that you should speak with a physician first since this cream contains a high percentage of Azelaic acid.

To read his article click here Azelaic acid is included in commercial products such as Crinogen and Revivogen.

The prices on these products range from $20 to over $100 a month depending on what you order.

If any of you have used Azelaic acid we'd love to hear your comments. Until next time....have a great hair day.

Remove Gray Hair

So you wake up one morning looking in the mirror and say "what the hell are these gray hairs doing here?' Face it you're getting old buddy so take it like a man or a woman. You're doomed. Or are you?

First let's us find out the reasoning why our hair turns gray. In a nutshell the body produces a pigment known as melanin. As we grow older the body produces less melanin resulting in gray
and white hair.

For the full article click here

Now lets discuss your options

COLOR ME

You can always use hair color, which personally is a pain. I've ruined many towels and a few bathroom rugs. You also need to be careful with hair colors. Some just color the hair which is fine. Others color the root which increases the length of time the color stays on. That coloring which is usually done in a hair salon can damage your hair if done too often.

CUE BALL EFFECT

Shave it off. That might going a bit overboard but if you're already losing your hair and
read my previous post, it could be beneficial.

EAT MR. HE's ROOT (HE SHOU WU)

As the story goes a long time ago an old man (Mr. He) got lost in a forest. While trying to find his way back he ate only the roots of a common vine.

Upon his return to the village everyone was amazed to see Mr. He's once white hair now black.
The herb Mr. He ate was named after him. The herb is called He Shou Wu (Old Man He).

Now there aren't any clinical studies to back up this story. But neither is the existence of King
Arthur, and yet we all want to believe it's true.

At the price of a movie ticket it's worth a gamble to try it. He Shou Wu is sold at most vitamin
shops.

So go and eat some root.

Shave your head and keep more cash

For all you baldies out there who haven't made up their mind about going all the way, I'm gonna give you a great reason to shave it off. Money.

To see how much extra you can earn a year you first need to choose what category you're in.

  • Category One - The Great Pretender

This is the kind of guy who has no hope his hair will grow back. He uses the old comb over or tries to deflect attention off his shiny head by growing facial hair. Some still hang on to that damn pony tail.

These guys spend the least of amount of money on their hair. For arguments sake we'll say he goes to the barber once a month and buys minimal hair products.

These guys can put an additional $200 - $230 in their pockets by shaving it off

  • Category Two - You Gotta Have Faith
In the middle of the pack are those guys who still believe there's a chance to save what
they have and maybe grow it back. This group spends on hair loss treatments, vitamins
shampoos and herbs.

Saving here could easily amount to $500 - $1,000

  • Category Three - Never Gonna Give You Up

These guys refuse to give up. No matter what, they will grow their hair back. These die hards will shell out the most cash. They will do everything category two does plus purchase equipment such as a Laser Comb or try Laser Therapy.

This group can save an astounding $1,200 - $4,000

On top of saving money it also saves you time. No more barber shops. No more combing. No dandruff. You're in great company with those great bald charatcers like Professor X, Kingpin, The Hitman and my favorite Mr. Clean.

Peanut Milk for Hair Loss?

Ok I know what you're thinking "are you kidding me?" I'm not here to judge, I'm just the messenger. I came across another article that talks about how peanut milk reverses hair loss and other maladies.

This supposedly magical elixir was concocted by Jack Chang as a means to consume peanuts. His gum disease prevented him from chewing peanuts and thus Peanut Milk was born.

He soon realized that the product cured his gum disease and also slowed down his balding. It's other benefits include healing wounds faster, preventing colds, reducing symptoms of menopause and soothes psoriasis. It’s also said to be a hangover cure. Some drink it at bedtime to help them sleep; others choose it as an alternative to caffeine.

Although there is no medical proof that this concoction does any of the above, his company Trinity Products LLC produces close to a quarter million bottles a year. That's not peanuts

The product is only available in a few retailers in California. Click here for locations.

Who said peanuts are just a bar snack.

Celebrities with hair transplants

Hi Gang

In the event you are considering a hair transplant, I've compiled a list of male celebrities who look like they've gone under the knife. Or Maybe it's a great looking toupee. In any case here they are

And the cream of the top..I mean crop:

Matthew McConaughey - This guy had some serious work done in my opinion. He admitted his new mane of hair is the result of using Regenix, a bio-pharmaceutical product.

Don't think so Matt. He wasn't in the spot light for a while. Was he taking time off to let his new hair grow? Gotta admit the new do looks great

Brendan Fraser - This was a surprise. Never knew the star of 'The Mummy' movies had to get rid of his own curse before he he did battle with the under world. Thumbs up. Whether a hair piece or transplant it's an amazing hair job.

John Travolta - No amount of Grease could cover this stars toupee.
To view a more detailed photo go here.
If not for the visible mesh
thanks to a zoom lens, this is actually a very natural looking hair system.

Ben Affleck - This Darecdevil could beat The Kingpin but not Alopecia. Two different hair lines is a giveaway. It was always a rumor
that Allfeck wears a wig.

Nicholas Cage
-This award winning actor has captivated audiences with his performances in such movies as 'Leaving Las Vegas',

' Adaptation' and my favorite 'The Rock'. If only his toupees were as good as his roles.

I gotta say I wish that toupee was gone in 60 seconds so the next film won't be a national disaster.

For all the other toupee wearing celebs that want don't want a mention:

Al Pacino, Chick Norris, Steven Seagal, Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds and Marv Albert. I'm sure I missed a few.

Feel free to add to the list.

Procerin FAQ's

If you are having trouble with the loss or hair and experiencing baldness you may have heard that the new supplement can be the end to your woes.

Although it is true that Procerin has been shown to alleviate hair loss and assist the body in naturally regrowing lost hair, there are quite often questions you need to have answered to determine whether Procerin is right and effective for your hair loss needs.

Who can Use Procerin?
Hair Loss is caused in 92% of cases by a condition called androgenetic alopecia which can both be genetic or develop over the course of ones life. This type of hair loss is the type treated by the natural ingredients of Procerin so it can be said that for 92% of those experiencing hair loss, Procerin is usable. Also Procerin is not suitable for women.

Does Procerin Work?
According to the majority of those surveyed Procerin is effective in reducing hair loss and assisting in the reproduction of new hair. It does this by inhibiting the chemical (known as DHT) that is responsible for the destruction of hair cells when released from the scalp and hence allows the body to naturally regrow its hair without restriction.

Are there any side effects?
The great thing about Procerin is that because it is not a prescription treatment there are no side effects as a result of its usage. Some users have experienced minor stomach aches after their evening dosage but in most cases this is offset simply by taking the supplement along with your evening meal as opposed to on its own.

How often do I have to take Procerin?
The recommended dosage of Procerin is one tablet in the morning after or with breakfast and one in the evening with or after dinner. While results have shown to vary you will generally begin seeing results within 2-3 weeks and within 2-3 months you will notice significant growth to your scalp. You may then continue taking Procerin as long as you feel necessary to achieve your desired results.

What happens if I stop taking Procerin?
This is a common concern. Some subjects have reported that their results remain permanent after ceasing use of Procerin while others find that after a certain period of no longer taking the supplement they begin losing small amounts of hair again. This varies due to the level of testosterone (and hence DHT) produced in the individual but luckily you can alter your Procerin supplementation according to your own results.

With correct usage Procerin really can help you regain that youthful appearance and feel younger and more confident again.
